How it Works

Lactic peels contain agents derived from fruit sources that act as metabolites to remove dead skin cells from the uppermost layer of the skin, the epidermis. These are the skin cells left behind as new ones grow and can clog pores and give your skin the appearance of having an uneven tone. By using lactic acid, the protein bonds between the dead cells and the new are broken down, making it easier to completely slough them away.

Applied during an outpatient treatment, the solution is usually left on for only a few minutes, so that the skin can absorb it properly. A neutralizing lotion is then applied, and allowed to rest on the skin for another five minutes, before being gently removed. These treatments can make your skin hypersensitive to the sun’s rays, so to avoid damaging it, you should apply a sunscreen of at least SPF 30 when going outdoors.
