Dr. Byron R. Dean, D.O.

A veteran of the U.S. Military, Dr. Byron Dean, D.O., earned his undergraduate degree at Southern Illinois University and his Doctor of Osteopathy at the Osteopathic Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.  The D.O. degree is equivalent to the traditional M.D. in its four-year intensive training regimen, but the D.O. also requires 300-500 hours of training in osteopathic manipulative medicine and techniques.  The D.O. is, in that sense, an “M.D. plus.”  To find out more about the Doctor of Osteopathy degree, visit the American Osteopathic Association website.

Dr. Dean finished his Residency and Internship at Florida Hospital East Orlando, is board certified, and is licensed in the state of Florida.  He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA), and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).  He is also a physician at Lakeland Regional Hospital and Bartow Regional Hospital. 

As an osteopathic physician, Dr. Dean is committed to treating the body as an integrated whole where possible.  Instead of just attacking a standard problem with a standard cure, Dr. Dean considers the whole body and the individual’s specific situation to prescribe an integrated cure.  His goal is the best, most healthful , most long-lasting cure possible with current knowledge and technologies.
