Filler Injections
Though many wrinkles will respond well to Botox alone, sometimes treatments with Thermage or other treatments are needed for the best results. Thermage, which tightens the skin by stimulating the deepest layer of the dermis with radio waves, can help eliminate wrinkles that are either too ingrained for Botox or are in parts of the face that you don’t want to affect.
Sometimes however, skin has been damaged and folded so prominently for such a long time that even more drastic action is needed. If a Botox treatment doesn’t smooth out these wrinkles, then you still have the option of having True MD inject different kinds of fillers directly under the wrinkle area to fill out the skin from below, giving you a liquid face lift. These filler injections can also be used to plump up the lips for a fuller, more youthful appearance.

Even though collagen fillers have come a long way (originally harvested from cows or cadavers), True MD has chosen to use fillers made of a naturally occurring fluids identical to those already present in every human body, such as hyaluronic acid and calcium suspensions/colloids. Because hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring, it has better biocompatibility than other fillers and it doesn’t normally have the rejection or reaction problems of collagen fillers. Also, it avoids the hassle, pain, and time required to pull collagen from somewhere else in your own body to fill out your wrinkles or loose areas of skin.
Different fillers work best for different levels of skin depression or areas of treatment. True MD uses Restylane and Juvederm Ultra for the light and delicate work around the nose and mouth, Juvederm Ultra plus and Perlane for the heavier lifting, and Radiesse if you need to add significant volume to different areas of your face.
Restylane and Juvederm Ultra
These two clear gels are used primarily around the nose and mouth to fill out wrinkles in that area and they work best for wrinkles of light-to-moderate depth. Not only do these products act as fillers and cushions under the skin but they also nourish and hydrate the skin from the inside. These gels last 6-9 months before being safely absorbed by the body.

Juvederm Ultra plus and Perlane
These two fillers use a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid to treat deeper, more ingrained wrinkles and sunken places in the skin. Also used in the lips, cheeks, eye region and around the mouth and chin, these biodegradable fillers are often the first line of treatment for serious wrinkles, supplemented once or twice a year with Restylane and Juvederm Ultra.
Radiesse
Radiesse is also hypo-allergenic and biocompatible, created from calcium suspended in microspheres within a water-based gel. Radiesse is used to fill larger areas of the face, allowing your True MD technician to add significant volume and give your face the youthful contours that you may have lost over time. Also, Radiesse encourages natural collagen production, making repeated treatments less frequent.
In consultation with one of True MD’s aesthetic physicians, the best filler for your particular situation can be chosen and an individual treatment plan created. Filler injections are done quickly and fairly painlessly. After application of a minor anesthetic, True MD’s aesthetic physician will inject the filler into the target areas. The only sensation the patient feels is slight pressure. You will be sent home the same day, and you will not only be able to see your results in the mirror immediately but you will also be able to see the results in your smile for some time to come.
