Dermal Fillers

Discover The Difference Dermal Fillers Can Make

Dermal FillerAs we age, our skin goes through changes. It begins to lose elasticity, and wrinkles and fine lines begin to appear. Rather than go through expensive plastic surgery in order to tighten the skin, and make those fine lines and wrinkles disappear, an increasing trend in cosmetic procedures today is to implement one of the many dermal fillers available on the market instead. These cosmetic injections can restore youth and vitality to your skin instantly, and with a lot less downtime from your normal activities.

Curious about how dermal fillers can bring your skin back to a youthful appearance? All of us at True MD want the best for you and your skin and we are here to answer any questions you might have. Call us today .

What are They?

Dermal fillers are injectable compounds that combine with the natural proteins and hormones in your skin to erase fine lines, wrinkles and improve the appearance of scars by restoring the skin’s natural elasticity. Unlike Botox, which uses a paralytic to smooth out the skin, dermal fillers work from within the skin, triggering the production of collagen and elastin to fill in those lines and scars with new, healthy skin.

The effect from using these fillers is immediate. Upon injection, the compound smoothes out the flaws in your skin as soon as it settles inside of it. While it is present, it binds with proteins as the collagen and elastin begin working, restoring elasticity and creating new skin cells to fill in the target area. As the compounds are absorbed, their effect lessens but your skin will still retain its effects. Good for at least six months before the compounds are fully absorbed, you can always return for touchups should the need arise.

Types of Fillers

The two main ingredients in these wonderful fillers appear naturally in your skin, collagen and hyaluronic acid. As we age, our bodies stop producing these naturally and as they fade from the skin, any flaws become more noticeable due to the loss of natural elasticity. When they are reintroduced to the skin, they trigger the skin’s natural healing properties, and cause new cells to fill in the target areas. There are synthetic versions of both collagen and hyaluronic acid, which are combined with other additives for longer lasting affects or you can opt for the natural ingredients that come from bovine sources.

It is possible to be allergic to some chemicals without realizing it, especially if you have never used dermal fillers or other skin treatments in the past. To safeguard against potential allergic reactions, always ask the doctor as to what is in the injectable solution first. If you are still not sure, you can always do a skin test to check for allergic reactions beforehand. These injections are much safer to use than other treatments and the effects will last far longer than say other popular mediums, like Botox.
